The Centre
The Burdekin Neighbourhood Centre has been serving the residents of Burdekin Shire since 1987.
Founded by a group of community-minded women, the centre has become an essential part of the community, catering to the needs of around 10,000 individuals annually. The Centre has always stood for inclusivity and community participation, and it continues to uphold these values.
The Centre provides a welcoming and supportive space where people can engage in various social, educational, and cultural activities.
The Centre offers diverse programs and services to enhance the community’s well-being. The Centre’s services are funded through contributions from the State Department of Treaty, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships, Communities, and the Arts under its Community Support and Sector Development Program, the Neighbourhood Centre Initiative.
The Centre provides a wide range of programs and activities, including Information, Advice and Referrals, Local Meeting Spaces, Support and Social Groups, Lifestyle Programs, a Free Community Legal Advice Program, a Venue for visiting services and programs, Network Development, and Support for local initiatives.
